Course Information

Introduction

This five-day course teaches practical skills to prepare, analyze, and present business data. You will learn methods that reduce manual rework and improve the reliability of routine reports. The course covers data cleaning, basic SQL, descriptive statistics, and simple visualisations using Excel and a BI tool. The focus is on producing clear, usable results that support everyday decisions.

Objectives

1. Clean, transform, and merge raw datasets so they are analysis-ready using Excel techniques and repeatable steps.
2. Write basic SQL queries (SELECT, WHERE, JOIN, GROUP BY, aggregates) to extract and summarize business data.
3. Produce and interpret descriptive statistics and pivot tables to answer common operational and performance questions.
4. Create clear charts and a simple dashboard in Excel or Power BI to communicate key metrics.
5. Summarise findings into concise recommendations and a one-page report for stakeholders.
